Adoption

Image
When God speaks to us in such a clear and persistent voice we have two options, we can ignore it or answer him YES! God has been telling Jeff and I that he has had plans for us since before we got married. I remember Jeff taking me home from a date and us swinging on my parent's porch swing and he said, "I wonder what kind of mission field we will be in?". God has never stopped leading us to the point that we are now which is adoption. Adoption specifically has been on our hearts for about 3 years. We almost started the foster classes and joining DCS and then we found out we were getting our little Piper. God had different plans. Right now we have our HUGE folder of documents that need to filled out and notarized, documents need to be collected, Jeff and I both have to write an autobiography, they even want our vet records! We also have a county, Ethiopia. We are so excited and so nervous at the same time. Having a biological child was alot easier (even with mor...

Piper's First Birthday

Image
I know every parent says this and I've said it every year with my darlings, but I really can't believe that she is 1! My sweet smiling Piper has been with us for a whole year now. We have been so blessed to have her gentle, but increasingly wild spirit in our family. The boys just adore their sister. They always have, but now that she can interact with them it is a whole new ball game. The other day I actually found Piper bouncing on the boys bed while Max and Cooper were jumping on it. Crazy kids! Anyway, how did we celebrate her big day? Piper is one lucky girl! She had two special parties. One with Nana and Gramps and the other one with CC, Granddad, Great Grandma, Great Papa, Auntie Jo, and cousin Abby. Each was sweet in their own way. With Nana and Gramps we ate Pei Wei for lunch and then let her dig into a bright pink princess cake. I love first birthday cake pictures!!! With the rest of our family, we had a pic-nic in our back yard and enjoyed cupcakes that Ma...

Little River

Image
My grandparent's are visiting from Florida and are staying in Townsend. That place just makes my spirit come alive. I have always loved the mountains and I'm pretty sure our kids are growing to love that place too. My grandmother went with us to the Little River and we just relaxed...well the boys played with rocks...what else do little boys and big boys need?!

Best Labor Day Ever!!!

Image
This year when everyone was suppose to be grilling hot dogs and steaks and having large festive parties it rained...on labor day. We Loved It!!! Like the title says, best Labor Day Ever! Ignore the moving boxes... Do they look worn out to you or is it just me?

MDO

My boys have started another season in a wonderful mom's day out program at a quiet church in town. This school has smaller program and feel much more personal than the one they went to last year. There are only 3 classes and the boys get to know all the kids not just the ones in their own class. The boys really have a fun time. They have had a difficult time learning to say bye to me in the mornings, but when I pick them up Max tells me that he wants to play longer. I'm so thankful they enjoy it because after a few morning of leaving my darlings crying is enough for me to take them out of the program to stay home with me...but mama needs this too! (These were taken the second day of "school"....yes super mom failed again and forgot the camera the first day. Oh well, I'll try again next year.)

We are HOME!!!

Image
Well we are finally in our new house...a few boxes still sitting around...lot of pictures still leaning up against walls...a bunch of kids playing everywhere!!! We love our new place in the "big city" of Knoxville. The kids seemed to adjust so quickly, not really even missing a beat. I was a bit nervous about them. Jeff and I have put them through so many new changes. First we sold our cute blue house in the county and moved in with my parents (they LOVED that), they started a new mom's day out program with new everything, then we left CC and Grandad's house and moved into our new house, and then to top it off the boys got new teachers at "school". They are such troopers! Our home feels very natural now; almost like we have been here for years except for all the boxes and mess....well I guess we always have messes in this family! We have a back yard that is comparable to any park in the area. There are 6 mature maple trees that give us so much shade. ...
