Day 3: July 28

Today was THE day!  Miley Mengcong Bostrom’s Gotcha day!  We woke up anxiously at 5am and waited until 6:30 before going down to breakfast.  Breakfast was wonderful.  There were all kinds of food we had never had before and some that looked familiar like fruit, sausage, and bacon.   We had to wait until 10:30 until finally getting to meet Miley so we walked around the inside and outside of the hotel.  There is a lap pool that is amazing. We can’t wait to swim in it….maybe tomorrow.  We found a bakery that sells the cutest cakes in the shape of cars or cartoon characters.  We will probably buy one for Miley, because tomorrow is her birthday.  We were mainly trying to waist time…

When it was finally time, our guide told one family member come outside and get your new child.  Well that wasn’t going to happen, Jeff and I both went with him….and….we….waited….again!  It was probably one a couple of minutes, but suddenly we saw three people with three babies walking toward the hotel and we knew it was our babies.  I immediately recognized her and went right up to get her.  She went right to me and held on tight.  She gave Jeff and I the sweetest smiles.  When we got back inside the hotel she pointed at Jeff and said “baba” which means Daddy.  We couldn’t believe it!  Later on we realized that that is the only sound she really says, but Jeff still says her first word was daddy.

After signing a few papers we went back to our room for some playing, eating, and calling family on skype.  I need to tell you all that she ate in that short ~45 minute period.  She ate 3 banana cookies, a whole banana, applesauce, a bowl of oatmeal, and some more cookies.  She also drank a sippy cup of water.  We were amazed!  During the feast, we were able to skype with Nana and Gramps, CC and Grandad, and Autie Jo.  We didn’t get to see the kids because I didn’t want my parent’s to have to wake them and then try to get them to sleep again.  It was a sweet time.

At 12:30 we had to meet our guide in the lobby and then went to several places to finalize the adoption.  It was a long process that finally ended at 5:30pm.  We went to the photo place to get passport size photos taken of our family and Miley.  Then we had to go to the Center of Civil affairs which is where we finalized the adoption.  That one took a loooonnnnnggggg time and was very very hot inside.  They don’t have air conditioning in most buildings here and this building didn’t even open the windows.  Three girls who are traveling with their parent’s played with Miley and their new brother, Ben, who also has Down syndrome.  Those girls we so good with the kids and they kept them happy and laughing most of the time there.  They also gave Miley and Ben about 6-8 cookies too. At about 2:30, Miley was so tired and sweaty…yes it was dripping off of her…that one of the girls rocked her to sleep in her arms al awhile Jeff and I were answering lots of questions.  Of course it would be right then that our guide needed to stamp Miley’s whole handprint on the forms.  A sleeping baby didn’t stop John and she is such a deep sleeper that she never woke up.   We were also suppose to go to the passport office, but later found out that “Charlie”, the man who does the paperwork for the orphanage, had actually already applied for their passports this past Friday.  We are not sure what this means yet, but are going to see if we can get Miley’s passport later this week if we can change her consulate appointment….therefore getting us home sooner.  It is a long shot, but praying that it could happen.  (P.S. Don’t tell our kids that there is a chance of us coming home early, just in case it doesn’t happen.)

After those appointments we were so tired that we only had energy to go to a local store and get Miley some shoes that fit her and grab some fast food.  We brought the food back to the hotel and Miley ate again!  She also loves French fries and baby food sweet potatoes.  I don’t think there is a think she won’t eat right now!
While we were eating the fries we were able to skype with our kids and it was the best!!!  Our three darlings were so calm and sweet.  They kept saying “hi Miley” and showing her their toys.  I can’t wait to see the four kids together!

By this time is was evident that Miley was tired.  She didn’t cry or anything, we read in her papers that that was her bed time.  So I rocked her and sang “I see the moon” just like I do my other kidos, then we said prayers, kisses, and laid her down in the crib.  I think it only took 3-5 minutes for her to fall asleep! Amazing!!!  I guess today was a bid day for us all.
Tomorrow is a free day and I’m so excited about just letting her play and resting myself.  We might try out the pool and walk around the city a bit.  Today was a great day and tomorrow will be even better!

Thank you Lord for Miley!!!
