Brave Little Man
Yesterday Max had tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed. Jeff and I were definitely a lot more nervous that Max was! He did so great! Jeff and I were able to stay with him as they were preparing for the surgery. (CC stayed with Cooper in the waiting room.) They gave him some "happy juice" that calmed and relaxed him. He was so funny. He didn't act too differently because he is such a crazy little boy to begin with, but he was just a bit more distracted. Max would go from telling us to lay our heads on his pillow to checking out the trash can next to him. I guess that isn't too much different from normal Max....hehe. When they were ready to take him to surgery, the nurse asked him if he wanted her to carry him or did he want to ride in the bed. He half way held his arms up and went right to her. Not a tear was shed! He just went right it. WOW! (That really surprised Jeff and I, because Max is going through yet another separation anxiety stage.) About 20 mins. later we were talking to his surgeon being told how everything went great and another 20 mins. I was holding my crying sleepy boy. That evening around 4:45, after he had his 2nd dose of pain medicine, he was running around the house pushing his train again. Granddad brought us all pizza and hugs and Max Man ate a WHOLE piece of pizza! He hasn't really eaten much at all for over a month. I guess he just hasn't felt good with his ears full of fluid. After all his pizza and running around our little man was so tired that he actually feel asleep as I was reading him a bedtime story. He has never done that before and it was so sweet! In the picture, notice "Big Bear" who takes up most of his bed. That was a prize that his daddy brought him back from the pharmacy for being such a brave, big-little boy. We are so proud of you Max!
